- Well for a full A4/letter page at 720 dpi the driver has to calculate the
- positions of a potential 182 million dots (20+MB of data), and if its
- using microweave and a sophisticated dither like Floyd-Steinberg B then
- of course it takes some time. On an '030 25MHz the calculations for a
- full page take about 30 mins to do and the printer takes another 30 mins
- to print it.
- But if you're mixing text and pictures its far quicker to print the text
- at 360x360 fast mode (leaving a gap for the pic) and put the paper
- through a second time and use the EnPrint picture printing program to
- exactly scale, rotate and position the picture for the second pass. That
- means theres much less data to calculate/print reducing the whole cycle
- to about 5 minutes for the same results.
